Easy Ways to Support Torah Academy

You’re just a few clicks away from sending a donation to Torah Academy’s scholarship fund every time you shop on Amazon.

Have you registered yet for the Amazon Smile program? When you select us as the charity you support, then each eligible purchase you make from smile.amazon.com will result in a 0.5% donation from Amazon to Torah Academy at no cost to you.

First, select us as your charity (Suburban Alliance for Jewish Education). Then, each time you shop Amazon, go to smile.amazon.com (make a bookmark in your browser!) in order for your purchase to count.

Try out the new Box Tops for Education.

The days of clipping little bits of cardboard coupons from your cereal boxes are officially behind us. Now, you can download the app and just scan your receipt in order to get Box Tops credit for your selected school.

When you register your account, you can search for the school you want to support. To find Torah Academy, try entering 60089 (our zip code) and choosing us from our spot on the alphabetic list. Thank you!

Check if your employer offers a Matching Gift program.

If you’re making a donation to Torah Academy (thanks!), it’s worthwhile to check if your donation could be doubled (or sometimes even tripled!) by utilizing your employer’s matching gift program. Check with your HR or Finance department to determine your next steps, and feel free to reach out to us with any questions. Torah Academy is a registered non-profit.

Illinois taxpayers: Donate and get a tax credit!

What are tax credit scholarships? The Illinois Tax Credit Scholarship Program, “Invest in Kids,” provides a 75 percent Illinois state income tax credit to individuals and corporations that contribute money to a non-profit Scholarship Granting Organization (SGO). The SGOs award scholarships to eligible students from low-income families. Donors will use money already owed to the state (taxes) and donate it to a needs-based scholarship instead, all while receiving a 75 percent state tax credit.

Which SGO does TA recommend? If you want to pay by credit card, Big Shoulders is our recommended SGO. For other payment methods, we recommend Empower Illinois.

How Do I Donate? You can find detailed instructions here. We are here to guide you if you need help at any point in the process. Please feel free to call Rabbi Zehnwirth at 773-771-2613.

Parents, look out for emails from us about when to apply to receive the scholarships.
